Discovering How To Forgive Yourself; Living A Lifetime Of Freedom in Only 10 Days!
We have all had different things in our lives that would be nice if we had not done. Some of those things can cause us sadness as we are reminded of them, while different things cause us such heartache we are able to barely live with what we have done and discover it is complicated, if not impossible, to pardon ourselves for it. Perhaps you know what I’m talking about. You are so abashed of your actions that youve done that you can’t comprehend you could or should pardon yourself. Instead, you feel all you are able to do is take the rest of your life paying penance for your wrongdoing, in hopes that may remove the intolerable burden of guilt you live with each day.
Without regard for your past evildoing, you may be freed from the responsibility you now carry, caused by not forgiving yourself. You may have asked the forgiveness of God for what youve done, yet if you have not been able to pardon yourself, you will remain defeated, maybe bondage, until you decide to obey the Word of our Lord and excuse yourself.
Regularly when we glance at the meaning and intention of of a word, we will be able to better know how to use it in our lives. This is true as we glance at the Greek word for forgiveness that means to free fully, i.e. Literally relieve, release, dismiss or let die, pardon, divorce from, depart, dismiss, let go, loose, put ( send ) away, release, to be freed.
To anyone who may ask, God offers His gift of forgiveness, meaning; He fully frees, releases, dismisses and pardons us from the debt and guilt of our sin. He sets us “body, soul and spirit” at freedom. However, he does not stop there. Our Heavenly Father then tells us to forgive others, as well as forgiving ourselves, Just like we have been forgiven, promising to give us the ability, by His Holy Spirit, to do so.
How does one go about forgiving him or herself? There is no exact way but these suggestion could be beneficial.
First, understand that one must make the choice to pardon ones self primarily based on God’s Word to do so. To forgive is a choice and an act of the will is important to make it happen.
Leviticus 19:18 claims you shall love your neighbor as yourself… Loving yourself is a command of God and love always carries with it forgiveness.
Second, if you have not already asked, ask God to forgive you for the wrongs you have done. It is vital to do this before working thru forgiving yourself. Remember, He is waiting to pardon you and will graciously do so , if you ask Him.
Nehemiah 9:17 But you are a God of forgiveness, Gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in loving kindness.
Then, sit down quietly with God and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you the things that you have not let go of or forgiven yourself for. Write it all down on a piece of paper. Be sure and put down all the specifics list the names of people you hurt and the ways that you caused them harm. ( No one will see this paper. )
From there express how you’re feeling because of what you did; Are you angry at yourself? Are you feeling embarrassed? Undeserving? Be truthful, for God knows it all already. This is a good place to release all the feelings youve carried or attempted to reject.
Now, take the decision to excuse yourself as God has forgiven you. Literally release, dismiss, let die, pardon, let go, loose, put ( send ) away, release and set yourself at liberty from the incorrect you are guilty of. Put your evil-doing into His hands and ask Him to heal your emotional injuries and permit you to move on without regrets, let go of the past and start fresh!
Finally destroy your list and throw it in the bin as a visible memory jogger that the guilt of what youve done has been forgiven and carried away, gone for good.
Now, go and experience the healing, peace and freedom that is yours to enjoy as you praise God for His power of forgiveness.
